Week 2

Aunt Joyce and mom, I am going to let you lead in this weeks discussion... I got carried away with scrapbooking this weekend, and didn't leave myself enough time to finish reading.... I fell asleep while reading, haha, I was extremely exhausted. I guess scrapbooking really takes it out of you!!!!
Anyway, hopefully I will be done by Tuesday and all caught up. So here you go!!!

  1. I am always amazed at how Blomkvist can put two and two together. Realizing that his office, home and phones are all bugged just by having the document stolen where he knew he had left it, his sister being attacked and lost her papers. He is smart at being careful by watching cars that seem suspicious, leaving bugs in place but letting his staff know that they have to be careful as to what they say, buying other phones he can use safely and leaving normal phones as decoys.

I get upset by Teleborian visiting Jonassen and pretending to be a caring psychiatrist. Luckily, Jonassen doesn't buy it and as a result, he will be another unlikely ally for Salander.

Sapo's Secret Organization has been busy. Eliminating Zala, then, the hanging of Bjorg, the attacks on Blomkvist's sister, the bugging of all places. They sure are a sleazy bunch and the worst part is that they think they are doing all this for the greater good. Ha!Glad to see that Armansky is helping Blomkvist with Salander. Nystrom enlisting Ekstrom by planting false evidence in Salander's files.

Good to see that Bublanski, Modig, Holmberg are suspicious of what is happening. That shows me that they are definitely good and honest investigators.

I am disgusted with Faste. What an egotistical policeman. He is definitely damaged that he is fixated on Salander being a paranoid, violent prone lesbian devoted to satanism and S & M. He's definitely not objective as Bublanski and Modig and Holmberg are.

Am curious how Berger will do at SMP. She is competent but can she handle all the different personalities at this paper and board??? And now that Blomkvist's reporter, Cortez, found out the damaging info on Borgsjo who hired Berger. Sounds like she jumped from the pan into the fire.

Was amazed that Armansky went to Eklindth to enlist his help since he is in the organization of the Secret Police. Can he really help???? Sure hope so. There are too many "bad" people working against her that are in power.

Blomkvist is on the ball enlisting Ghidi for help with the phone inserted into the heating vent and it not being illegal for Ghidid jeopardizing his livelihood.

I like Monica Figuerola. She's smart and is finding a lot of info on her investigation. And then, Eklindth piecing things together from her findings. I think I can trust him after all.

It's all well written and I know things will all tie in together at the end but how the author writes and the details he keeps straight is just so fascinating. I love the book.

  2. Sorry... been busy. Caught up on Wednesday... and will be ready for Sunday's post, just, ya know, flying to Memphis, got in the way of posting!!! Hahahaha. I love how it seems that Blomkvist and company always seem to be one step ahead of every one else. I understand why Armansky went to Eklindth for help, because it seems, since they are dealing with the Secret Police and the Sapo, and the government, that they will need some inside help to take this whole "situation" down.

My heart goes out to Berger. I truly believe that she made the wrong decision, but I feel like it will all tie in together with the story. Something with Salandar, or the secret stalker, or something will tie what everybody else is doing with Berger. I am very interested to see what that connection is.

I agree with you on Teloborian... I hope they hang him out to dry. I really like Jonasson, he really seems to know what is in the best interest of Salandar, and didn't get persuaded by what Teloborian had to say. I also liked how Jonasson helped out Blomkvist and Salander with her hand held computer. Segway into Salander's computer and internet people: I am excited to see how her internet friends are also going to swoop in and save her as well!

    Anyway... mom... are you there?!?!?!

I will have a new post up tomorrow for the third portion of the book... it starting to get really heated now...
