Week 3

It's very interesting that Salander is only giving hints to Blomkvist on what may or may not have happened. I think it is interesting, and this ties into what you said last week Aunt Joyce, that Salander said she had nothing to do with Dag and Mia, and said nothing about Bjurman. Interesting.. Aunt Joyce, do you still think she didn't do it. I don't think she did either. Salander has an interesting way of doing things, but she still does have a moral side of her, and I do not think she would kill Bjurman. Whoever killed Bjurman also killed Dag and Mia, and there is a connection between all of it.

Also, lets bring up Palmgren. He really wasn't as big of a factor in this last weeks section. I was surprised, I thought that someone would have contacted him... Blomkvist, Salander, a journalist... somebody... but nothing really seemed to happen...

And who is Zala... I definately think he is the key link in all of this. Zala was one of the last things that Dag and Mia were looking into. And that was one of the things that Salander was asking Dag and Mia right before they were murdered. Salander is key in all of this, but she didn't murder anyone. I believe Salander knows Zala, who knows what Dag and Mia are up to, but also knows Bjurman....

Can;t wait to find out what is next for us.... We will get this all wrapped up. So many loose ends, so many crazy things happening.

One more thing before I go... It sucks to be Salander right now... or for that matter just her acquaintance Mirium Wu. So much for innocent until proven guilty. The journalists and media never even gave her a fighting chance. And the cops seem to be reading into exactly what the media is saying. Luckily Blomkvist and Armansky are also doing a bit of their own investigating to find out what really happened. But geez... those headlines are brutal. Even if Salander is proved innocent, it wouldn't even matter, because they have protrayed her to be this psychotic mass murderer.

Anyways... ideas for next book????

  1. Darn, I posted here and then computer locked, and cleaned out comments. How about finishing up the series since the Hornet's Nest one says that "Once upon a time she was a victim. Now, Lisbeth Salander is ready to fight back.
I still feel that Salander didn't kill the three...Dag, Mia or Bjurman(although there were no tears shed on him with Salander and who could blame her?) I want Blomkvist and Armansky to step up to the plate and "defend" their belief that Salander could not have killed them because she does have a sense of morality to everything she does. It would be nice to have Bjurman's character come to life because the press makes him out to be an upstanding lawyer. Can't stand all these people, from Salander's past painting her out as a psychotic personality - the bullies, the substitute teacher, etc. Wish someone would research more why she reacted the way she did under the circumstances that she had to put up with just because she wasn't a bleeding heart telling everyone her problems. Still can't truly understand why she is so against Blomkvist, I know, I know, she felt wronged by him but one would think she could trust him a little more to give him some more solid clues then what she has been giving. At least she is trying to give a little more for him to go after.
It would be great if Palmgren could somehow communicate as to how he feels about Salander and what he knows about her. Even the doctor who is attending him should come forward as to what Salander has done with monies to help his facility and Palmgren. Although, with the way she got the monies, one might again use that against her for "criminal activities" with using the computer. I don't like a number of the men who are working with the police to help find Salander and excuse me, why aren't they looking more into other suspects of interest. Even though the "evidence" tends to point to Salander, one would think it was too obvious and maybe they should seek elsewhere for the person/persons who murdered the victims.
I want more research done with how Bjurman became the guardian of Salander, it seems that he was specifically placed to get her on his case load - why??? Does Zala have something to do with it and who is he anyway. Can't wait to continue reading and find out about those who are leaking information to the press - Ekstrom. Is Dr. Teleborian going to get his come uppance for what he did to Salander - hope so!!! Definitely used archaic methods in dealing with her.

  2. Suspense is building up as I knew it would. I think that Salander is careful about clues she is giving Blomkqvist cause she doesn't want to be traced and she knows from working with him that he will get to the answer. It's just taking so long. So she is smart to be holed up in her place and am hoping no one will find that out.

I agree with Jennifer that having Blomkqvist and Armansky also looking for answers will be a huge help cause they have worked with her and know she is not the psychotic that the other departments have made her out to be.

Also, agree with Ingrid, that the archaic children's system they have in this country is outlandish and the people that have had contact with her all make her out to be such a threat. Nobody, other than Palmgren, seem to dive into who she is or what made her so introverted. I can identify with Salander. How can she trust anyone since no one has given her any sense of trying to understand her background or shown any attempt to really figure out why she has clamped up as she was growing up. We certainly would have done that here.

The former cop, Bjork certainly knows of Zala. Anyone that does know this character is deathly afraid to reveal what they know so he is a formidable person.

It amazes me that you can find out so much about a person, like what the police are digging up on Salander, and yet, not KNOW her. Why don't they delve into her a bit more, other than this "expert" Teleborian. Why don't they listen to Borkqvist and Armansky more???? I have hope that Bublanski will uncover more cause he is having doubts.

In the meantime, Bohman(Armanski's employee) who is leaking info to the press, is also needing to be investigated. The detectives need to see him for who he is. What a sorry excuse for a man.

I am also thinking that Palmgren and the doctor could be an important piece to help "rescue" Salander. Hopefully, Armansky or Blomqvist will look into this angle.

Agree with Jennifer, that more needs to be done with Bjurman. His "stellar" record needs to be exposed as what he is - a pervert. Doesn't the clue on his stomach need to be looked at more seriously???

So, we are all agreed that this is good and all the strings will tie into solving this mess. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. And maybe, we could finish with the next book in the series.

I did see a piece on the news about the author (who has died) that he had planned on there being at least 7 books in this series and that there is one more manuscript that hasn't been published yet. The person who holds this manuscript in possession is the live in love of his life and there is a fight going on between the author's dad and brother and the live in partner of the author. So we'll be left dangling in the wind. DARN!! Another reason that people should have some type of will or trust to protect their loved ones.

    Happy reading!!!
