Well after week one, this one started off right where it left off from before. I feel like this one is going to be mostly focused around Salander, with the rest about the sex trafficking.
Salander: Salander seems to be pulling herself together. She did her stint with travelling around the world, and is now back and coming in contact with all of her former people. I know she has not yet come in contact with Blomvkist, but it is only a matter of time I think. I do not like what is going on with Bjurman. I have a feeling that he is going to get back at Salander, and is going to be successful to a degree... but hopefully by then Palmgren will be able to help Salander out and take down Bjurman.
As for Millenium and there stories and books about sex trafficking, I think it is going to expose and make a lot of people unhappy. It frustrated me a little when they were talking about the idea in the board meeting and said something like, at any given time there are hundred women active, and that 300 men are basically living off the money that the women make... and somebody says, that sounds like small change.... Small change???? I think one woman involved in sex trafficking is too many. I hope they crack open this case and take these suckers down!!!
Also, I am wondering what is going to happen with the couple from the island... the man who died during the storm, and the wife who managed to survive...
What do you guys think????
Ok, here I go. This is my third attempt to answer. Anyways, this book definitely moved faster than the previous one. Probably due to the fact that we are now acquainted with the characters.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Salander is set financially. It gives her more freedom to live a better life. Going on a world trip was good for her. Don't know if she's ever had the chance to spoil herself. But thins always happen around her. The hurricane, the couple she was worried about. Looks like the hurricane took care of the hubby with Salander's help and the wife is free of the assaults on her. Salander took steps to improve her looks with the boob enhancement.
Worried about her sex life. She moves through sex partners like she does eating or drinking. The young boy, George, on Grenada and her friend Mimi. It certainly is not meaningful sex. Just immediate gratification.
Bjurman worries me. Now that he is plotting against her and getting the information on her background from the two journals of her former guardian. Hate is a powerful motivator. Hope Salander stays on top of the situation.
Since Salander is such a good researcher, maybe she'll be helping out with the Millenium book and researching the sex trade girls. We'll see about that.
I don't think we'll hear anymore from the couple on Grenada. The wife wasn't really aware of Salander at all.
Will get busy and read the next segment.
Definitely agree that this book took off really fast and keeps you going so you don't want to set it down. Not sure about Salander though, I know she is the main character but some of the things she does appears to be on the criminal side. I know, I know but she "gets rid" of people, goes through other people's computers, although 'with good reason', she's quick to act against those who have wronged her. It is great that Salander was able to pilfer monies so she could go out and experience the world in a luxurious way as well as having a great new place to live. Her self image certainly was boosted with her breast augmentation and hope that will make her feel better about herself. Both her and Mikael seem to be treating/experimenting with sex without any real connection with the person they are having it with. I wonder if they ever will settle together with some emotional ties, or for these two is it necessary. I too am worried about Bjurman, he's definitely has good reasons to go after her and I think he's gotten over her threats because he does want paybacks now. He definitely is driven to right a wrong in his mind. Wonder about Svensson and his role with Berger and Mikael. Is Harriet Vanger just a sexual release for Mikael or will she take on more of a role in the story.
ReplyDeleteHI Jen,]
ReplyDeleteI know you're in the Bahamas but this is week 2, so I thought I could kick off this week's segment. Hope that is ok, but want to keep on reading cause it is getting to be quite interesting with all the developments that are happening.
I like the fact that Salander really cares for Palmgren and is doing what she can to help him recover. Plus taking the time to visit him. Shows that she does have a side that has empathy for others she cares about.
I was shocked about the murders of Svensson and Johansson. Not so much the murder of Bjurman. It doesn't look good for Salander. She was with Svensson and Johansson, we know she doesn't think much of Bjurman with good reason. Somehow, though, I think she is being set up. There are the people Bjurman had set up to get rid of her, the people that Svensson and Johansson offended with their book, paper so it could be any one of them. Can't wait to see what happens next. Hope questions will be answered soon. What happened to Salander???? It doesn't sound like her to leave such evidence all over the place, finger prints, her history, etc. This is where Palmgren can help out (hopefully).
What do you think?
