Sorry guys

So it's been awhile since I have posted.... why don't you guys tell me how far along you are in the current book.

I am around page 200, a little over half way.  we will discuss this Sunday...  I just want to figure out where you guys are at, to tell you where to stop for Sunday's discussion.

  3. Right now I am not a fan of Maureen. She does work for a living but at first I wasn't sure whether she was just a waitress at the bar or a waitress with benefits (prostitute with the right customer). I also didn't like the idea that she is a drinker and a coke user (although we get the impression she isn't a heavy coke user). She doesn't seem to have any real personal connections with anyone in her life, so I don't see her as a warm personality.
Gave her credit with her decision not to tell what she saw between Sebastian and her boss but knew that it was Sebastian that had something to do with the death of him.
Then she started to tell John what she saw, he connected her with the police officer, who she did not trust right away. For a while I too thought that she was using her situation to try to get John interested in her other than as a friend. Didn't like that either because he has a girlfriend.
Hopefully, going to her mother's (to avoid her apartment) might mean that she can establish somewhat of a relationship with her. Although, Maureen isn't honest with her mom and doesn't confide in her so it makes her mom suspicious of why she has moved in with her. I know she is probably doing it to protect her mom but telling her at least something, that she needs her mom to stand by her on faith, might help their reconnecting as mother and daughter.
Sebastian is definitely a poweful figure who will use all of Maureen's connections with people against her. I don't know how Maureen will do to try to 'run away' from his reach.
I am starting to get into the book more as the actions is starting to get moving and I'm curious as to what is going to happen to Maureen and anyone who might be even somewhat helpful to her.
